The team had problems last night keeping her well ventilated and well oxygenated. In order to get and keep a better picture of her oxygen exchange, an art line was placed last night. The art line showed her numbers needed to be corrected so her ventilator settings were changed. She is on a very high setting on the vent in order to maintain right now. Her X-ray this morning showed a small air pocket that was more than likely caused by the increased need for pressure. For now we are keeping an eye on that pocket but a chest tube may appear in the future if it doesn't remain stable. She was started on nitric oxide to help her oxygenate better and given a higher dose of sedation.
Honestly, we are in a vicious cycle. A cycle of fluid, ventilation needs, and oxygenation issues. We are stuck waiting this nasty virus out while supporting her the best way possible. We need her body to start to respond in some way that swings her in a different direction. Her numbers are very slowly looking better for her gas exchange. Keep those prayers coming-it's been a very rough night. Still waiting on rounds for the plan for the day--
