an invite

Isobel has had a great week and a half, thank you Lord!  She has been without any "serious" episodes.  I think a part of it is us just learning what her normal is and knowing that it is just a part of the routine to run into bumps along the road.  We are getting more and more in tune to her needs and knowing when to do the various things we do to manage her trach and vent.  

We had Early Intervention visit this last week and services will be started for her this upcoming week.  One thing I stopped writing about because to be honest it seems so minor in relation to breathing is that we have been cathing her (we never stopped for longer than a day or two) in order to help her go potty :)  Since we went back to Children's, she has been put on a medicine to stop her bladder from over contracting which can cause damage to her kidneys.  The problem with this is that it means we have to cath her more often.  So we added a bit more to our daily routine.  This past week she had her first urinary tract infection but seems to be doing well now--please pray for knowledge all around for us with doctors regarding her care.  There are so many specialists involved in Isobel's care that we lack an overall manager and smart as Dave and I might pretend to be, we have a difficult time pulling all of the different areas together.  The other area we can use prayer in is for nursing.  Our schedule has been very sketchy and there has been a lot of drama (imagine that, a bunch of women cause drama?!?!)  :)  It is very hard to share space with someone and trust them with Isobel's care.  We have a couple great nurses and are not "settling" for those that we do not think are best for our home or for Isobel's care. It's a very time and energy consuming process.  We know eventually it will make life easier so we continue to look to that positive end.  

Now for the invite--Isobel is being baptized on July 24th at Missio Dei Church which meets for the summer at Camp Manitoqua (8122 W. Sauk Trail, Frankfort).  Her baptism is at 10 and it is an open invite to those that have been following her story and praying for her.  We will have people to our home after church (around 12) for lunch and games in the yard.  If you can bring a lawn chair, great.  You do not need to RSVP if you are just coming to church but if you'd like to be fed at our home, please email me at emilyschissler@gmail.com to let me know you will be there :)  We really do mean and wish to invite everyone and simply do not have the time right now to go through and gather addresses!  We look forward to baptizing Isobel into the community that has loved her so well already!

Thanks be to God for the longest stretch she has been home since she was born!  We look forward to seeing you all at Camp Manitoqua and our home on the 24th!!
